Image capture in colposcopy, hysteroscopy and endoscopy with a foot pedal and smartphone
For exams without DICOM, such as colposcopy, hysteroscopy and endoscopy, Laudário captures images from the device's video straight into the report, with a USB foot pedal or with your phone as a remote control.
Colposcopes, hysteroscopes and endoscopes generate video, but they rarely speak DICOM. In practice, the report images come from a separate capture program: the file is saved to a folder, then the file has to be found and attached to the report. With hands busy during the exam, the person capturing is usually someone else.
Capture inside the report
In Laudário, the device's video output enters the computer through a capture card and appears in a panel inside the report editor itself. Each captured image goes straight to the exam, ready to choose which ones go into the printed report.
Three ways to capture
- USB foot pedal. The physician steps on it and the image is saved, without taking hands off the device.
- Click on the panel. For those who have an assistant at the computer.
- Phone as a remote control. The phone reads a QR code on the screen and becomes a button: each tap triggers the capture on the computer.
The sharpest frame, not the one at the instant of the click
In video, the exact moment of the pedal press almost always catches a blurry image. For that reason the system keeps the sharpest frame from the second and a half before the trigger. The result is a usable photo, not a blur.
Security
- The phone used as a remote control does not see patient data or the images: it only sends the command.
- QR access is valid for a limited period.
- The images stay in the exam, in the system, and not in loose folders on the computer.
Where this helps
- Colposcopy: documenting the transformation zone, the acetic acid test and the Schiller test.
- Hysteroscopy: polyps, submucosal fibroids and tubal ostia.
- Endoscopy and colonoscopy: lesions, biopsies and anatomical landmarks.
See how to describe the findings in colposcopy using IFCPC terminology and in diagnostic hysteroscopy.
How Laudário helps
In the colposcopy, hysteroscopy and endoscopy reports of Laudário:
- Capture panel inside the report editor.
- USB foot pedal, click or phone as a remote control.
- Choice of the sharpest frame and of the images that go into the printed report.
