About the Laudário Blog

Who writes, by what standards, and what to do if you find an error.

Who writes

The articles are published by Laudário, the ultrasound reporting platform created by a practicing sonologist for the daily routine of the office. The blog came from the same question that gave rise to the system: how to write a report that the referring physician can read in seconds and that leaves out nothing that changes management.

That is why the articles are not textbook summaries. Each one starts from a real exam in the daily routine and focuses on what needs to be written in the report: the measurements, the criteria, the classifications and the most frequent mistakes.

Who it is for

The content is written for physicians who perform or read ultrasound: sonologists, radiologists, gynecologists and obstetricians, and physicians in training. The language is technical on purpose.

About the English version

The articles were originally written in Portuguese, in Brazil, and translated into English. Some references (such as national guidelines or the organization of the health system) reflect Brazilian practice. The international criteria and classifications are the same.

Where the information comes from

Cutoff values, criteria and classifications follow published guidelines and consensus statements, cited by name in the text itself: systems such as the ACR BI-RADS, TI-RADS and O-RADS, the Fetal Medicine Foundation criteria, the FIGO classification, the MUSA and IDEA consensus statements, the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound criteria and the OMERACT group recommendations, among others. When the literature has no single value, the text says so instead of picking a number.

Updates and corrections

Guidelines change, and the articles change with them. Each article shows the publication date and, when it was reviewed later, the date of the update.

Important notice

The content is for educational purposes and does not replace clinical judgment, the individual assessment of the patient or the guidelines adopted by your service.

And a note on transparency: Laudário is commercial software. The articles end by showing how the system helps with that exam, and that section is, yes, promotional. The rest of the text applies to any report, written in any system.
